I think my buddy Jeremy scored big-time!
We bought 928 N 5TH ST while in the midst of a merger with another company. Otherwise, we'd be handing you a cold Stella and talking 16 penny nail facts like a REAL builder.
Chasity and I hail from the Portland, Oregon area.
In the midst of the pandemic (and that there merger), we pasted a map of the US on the dining room wall, poking almost 3,500 pins in various states to find the perfect blend of weather, water, people, and affordable living. Burlington just eased out Richmond, Indiana and San Antonio, TX. We're super happy we found this place.
The house that brought us here was on the wrong side of the tracks, next to what should be a haunted house, occupied by squatters and gangsters (seriously). Sight-unseen (let that be a lesson to you folks!) We gave it back to the realtor and holed up in a local hotel for a month (with our dog, no less), awaiting the availability of the beauty gracing these pages.
We immediately began renovating the very house you're looking at. From stripping the carpets from the hardwood floors. To leveling floors and removing some sheetrock. Eliminating non-structural walls. And fixing plumbing and electrical, heating and A/C. Then on to windows, toilets, kitchen appliances, localized gas heaters, ceiling fans and paint.
We were able to make it livable for the two of us and Augie Doggie.
But the merger brought new challenges and a busy prototype and podcast schedule.
We had to rethink how we invest our time.
What it takes to juggle all these moving parts. So....
Since that time, we've purchased another home 2 blocks away.
And a building we've turned into our new offices. (Thank you, John!)
As for the house you're considering your next move:
Our goal is to clean out our stuff from this baby over the next couple weeks.
Make sure the lawn stays mowed (Thanks Neighbor Jim!).
And find the right buyer to take this lot-and-a-half, former duplex and do something good for the neighborhood (Best neighbors in the land, my friends).

We love Burlington.
We've moved our company into a big building on 4th, while hiring some talent to make some minor upgrades to our home 2 blocks away on 6th.
Now we're ready to get Captain Hammer into a great old home with plenty of potential, and lots of work to make it into something grand.
